The Development Technology in the Community Research Group

The Development Technology in the Community (DTC) Research Group was established to promote Resilient Environmental, Water and Sanitation Technologies. It is part of the Water Innovation Research Centre within the Environmental Sustainability and Health Institute at TU Dublin. It is supported by the School of Transport and Civil Engineering, TU Dublin, Ireland. DTC has completed education, research and advisory projects in Ireland, Europe, South America, Asia and Africa. We use our links with knowledge networks worldwide to assist partners to develop an integrated approach to sustainable technology and to link with a wider regional knowledge base and expertise. The research outputs contribute to the TU Dublin Research theme of Environmental Sustainability.

ARCC – Achieving Resilient Cities & Communities
ARCC – Achieving Resilient Cities & Communities

The cities and communities of the 21st Century face huge challenges in coping with climate change, energy demands, water and wastewater supply together with food and health considerations.

ARCC – Achieving Resilient Cities & Communities is a series of one-day conferences and workshops jointly hosted by DTC Research Group and EWB Ireland, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. The first event took place in Dublin, Ireland in October 2018, followed by Ljubljana, Slovenia (ARCC2019) and future events will take place in Barcelona (ARCC2020)

These events are part of the European Union (EU) development education and awareness raising (DEAR) program (EuropeAid/ 151103/ DH/ ACT/ Multi) and the “Build Solid Ground Campaign” which aims to inform and actively engage EU citizens in actions towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
