Project Information

 The EMAS Concept

Do it yourself technology: all the material has to be locally available and within the financial means of the user.

Added Value: the more added value is given to the water, the more dependent becomes the user, and the more dependency exists, the more the user is willing to maintain the service.

Each EMAS centre has a technology portfolio of working systems with solutions based on proven scientific and engineering technologies

  • Pumps
  • Ferro-cement Tanks
  • Latrines
  • Shower Units
  • Solar water heaters
  • Ferro-cement sinks
  • Low cost Gutters
  • Filters
  • Drilling
  • Constructed Wetlands

During more than 30 years living in rural areas in Bolivia, South America the EMAS concept was developed, step by step. These appropriate technologies have already been introduced to many countries in South and Central America, some parts in Asia, some countries in Africa, including many countries where DTC is currently working
